Meet The Team

Louise Mak

Graduate Engineer

I always wanted to join Arup, mainly because of its reputation, especially in Asia and Hong Kong. It’s well known that if you have a career with Arup you’ll get the opportunity to be involved in large-scale projects and innovative construction, and that’s exactly what’s happened to me.

Since I joined as a grad I’ve been involved in different roles, including the design and coordination engineer of the Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort, the resident engineer in a proposed grade A office in Hong Kong and now the assistant structural design engineer in a velodrome-cum-sports centre. All these projects, with their challenging, demanding innovative design solutions have certainly broadened my perspective!

Fortunately I can call on experts from all over the world who can help me with their technical experience. Effective coordination and communication are essential among different engineers in any project and the environment at Arup promotes this.

Besides challenging projects, Arup also provides grads and engineers different kinds of training. I have just returned from the East Asia Design School held by the research and development group of Arup. Now I’m preparing for my chartership examination and hope to achieve an internationally-recognised qualification as a professional engineer. I’m looking forward to coming up with and applying more of my own ideas and solutions while making an important contribution to everything I’m involved with.
