Meet The Team

Infrastructure Practice
I joined Arup in 2008. Whilst working for another engineering company during university I became aware of Arup and their reputation in the industry for high quality work and a positive culture. Prior to joining I had lunch with a friend who was working for Arup and he mentioned that while there was a strong inflow of people joining and applying to join the firm, it was much fewer and farther between for people to leave. Having experienced companies with a high turnover, such a low outflow of people was a very positive sign of how the staff feel about the company.
In my first 6 months with Arup I was part of the design team for the $800M upgrade of the Ipswich Motorway/Centenary Highway interchange. I was responsible for several aspects of the road drainage and flood defence network. I was then seconded to the project site to assist the construction team with any queries through to the delivery of the project and handover the Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR). By the end of the project I had taken on a management role to help deliver the 3000+ As Constructed drawings for DTMR. I have also been heavily involved in the design of rail schemes, both heavy and light rail including the $1 billion Gold Coast Rapid Transit, as well as several development projects.
Working at Arup means working on projects that DO make a difference in people’s lives. In my three years here I have found Arup to be a company that DOES see its people as its greatest asset. The culture allows you to feel just as comfortable going up to chat to a member of the regional board as you would feel with the guy or girl sitting next to you.
Outside of work I enjoy playing beach volleyball and one way Arup has supported me in this is encouraging me to enter a team into a recent corporate tournament held by one of our clients.
