Meet The Team
Cara Moreland
Structural Engineer
During the four years I've spent at Arup I've worked on a wide range of projects from the exciting Maari Wellhead platform and concrete tunnels to the gas plant foundation project I'm currently involved in.
The graduate rotation program gave me a good idea of other disciplines and possibilities. For example, the Maari project was my introduction to the offshore industry. As well as working on design, platform analysis and reporting I got to go out onto the construction site for a couple of months to supervise work. It was a fantastic experience because I had real input into achieving the construction and the successful outcome of the project.
The diversity in projects has taught me a lot and I enjoy constantly learning. In addition to managing the gas plant foundation design, I am also responsible for the client interfacing and have become more aware of the financial and management side of things, which has been great to learn. I am appreciating being exposed to the project's bigger picture.
I've worked closely with teams from both Australia, London and Houston, and really appreciate just how advanced and advantageous our worldwide support network is. It's fantastic to know that whenever you have a question there will be someone who can help you out.
Overall, since I started here, my expectations have grown and somehow always been exceeded. The challenges I've faced have meant I've been pushed and developed very quickly. I've also been given a lot of responsibility early in my career. Now I'm looking forward to spending many years becoming a better structural engineer. With Arup I'll really be able to do that.
