Infrastructure Practice
Arup gave me the great opportunity to write my final thesis using a real problem. I was able to work and finish my study at the same time with great support from several Arup experts.
Arup’s work environment is very relaxed and also highly technical at the same time. As a graduate you get good jobs with a high level of responsibility and you never have to worry about anything because you can ask as many questions as you want. Everyone is very open and happy to share their experiences.
I worked on the design of several small and large scale maritime structures. I love working on smaller projects, because you are given responsibility and freedom in your design. Working on bigger projects is also very important to me as you learn a lot about project and team management, finances and client interaction.
At Arup, everyone recognizes the specialist knowledge of each person. At the same time, you are not diminished to this and are able to apply a very broad spectrum of your knowledge. And if you are lacking knowledge, Arup provides you with the right training. For example, engineers generally don’t have the strongest people skills and Arup recognizes this and offers comprehensive training in interpersonal skills.
I like the international and multicultural atmosphere at Arup. We are in regular contact with other offices all over the world to get the most out of our resources – our people. In my team of 13 people we have 8 different nationalities. We celebrate the national day of each team member so you can enjoy some great food and learn more about the culture. This is always great fun.
