Graduate Development Program

While you’re working through your Graduate Development Program a world of possibilities will open up for you. You’ll get to work on a variety of groundbreaking projects, enjoy quality mentoring from top professionals, and be exposed to all sorts of challenges with the support to ensure you succeed.

Also, when you start with Arup, you’ll be assigned a ‘buddy’ – usually a colleague with a similar qualification to you and about two or three years’ experience. Your buddy will provide guidance and assistance in your first three to six months, making sure you learn the ropes and feel like a real member of the Arup team.

Your two-year program will consist of five components, which will ensure you appreciate the breadth of opportunities and disciplines available to you:

2. Graduate Induction Weekend

This is an opportunity to understand more about Arup, and to work out what interests you and how you’d like to see your career evolve. There are two full conferencing days with a variety of activities to help you network with other graduates and key members of the management team.

3. Graduate Short-Course Program

Over the course of the Arup Graduate Development program (GDP) you will have the opportunity to complete a variety of customised training modules. You will spend time in these workshops with your graduate peers, building business and communication skills aimed at developing you into a well-rounded professional. The Arup GDP comprises a number of compulsory and optional training modules, which include managing meetings, writing winning documents and project management fundamentals.

4. Technical Training

We’ll provide you with specialist technical training in a number of areas determined by your group and discipline

5. Professional Development Programs

If you’re an engineer, we’ll give you the opportunity to become a member of the Engineers Australia professional development program (PDP). Designed to assist you become chartered, the program will provide you with support and guidance from Arup and Engineers Australia, including workshops, online support and learning materials. Engineers Australia Workshops will be held in all major Arup locations, and will include information and writing sessions.

For non-engineers, we’ll provide you with the opportunity to achieve a relevant professional qualification.
